SSC (Staff Selection Commission) updates



Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was set up mainly to recruit candidates into the lower sectors in varies departments of the Indian Government. The examination comprises of two tiers of written, objective examination followed by Computer proficiency/Interview/Skill test. UGC (University Grants Commission) Entrance Exams– Effective tips for Preparation



The University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine candidates who are eligible for lectureship and to award them Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). This test is conducted only for Indian nationals and also to ensure minimum standards for candidates willing to take up teaching professions and research. XAT application forms are available at www.xatonline.net.in . Candidates can visit this website and click “XAT Registration” to complete the procedure. The fee for XAT 2013 general applicant is 950/- (Rupees nine hundred and fifty only). Candidates can select online payment, cash payment or demand draft to pay the application and examination fees. After filling in the required details candidates have to upload photograph and signature, download the XAT confirmation page, send the confirmation page to XAT office and then download the Admit card for examination.


XAT 2013 Syllabus


XAT syllabus or pattern changes every year. XAT follows a different pattern and usually we find five options for every question. Questions include ‘Management Decision Making’ and case studies. XAT 2013 duration is of 3 hours and the examination is divided into 2 parts. The following are the sectors included in XAT 2013.

Eligibility Criteria for XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) 2013 Entrance

Indian Forest service (IFS) examination complete details



The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Indian Forest service (IFS) Examination for recruitment to the Indian Forest service. This examination is held in accordance with the rules published by the ministry of environment and forests in the Gazette of India. IFS examination is conducted at various centers all over India. The requirement changes every year and number of vacancies are filled based on the results of the examination.

IFS eligibility criteria:
Indian citizens between the ages 21 to 30 years are eligible to take up IFS examination. The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely botany, Chemistry, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Geology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics and Zoology. Even a bachelor’s degree in forestry and agriculture are eligible for IFS examination. Candidates shall be permitted four attempts at the examination and candidates must be physically fit  according to physical standards for admission to Indian forest service examination.

Sainik School came into existence in the 1960’s and the primary objective was to remove regional imbalances in the officers cadre and to develop qualities of body , mind and character that would make young boys and girls good respectable citizens who could serve the defence academy. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Exam Syllabus




Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Exam will be of two hours duration and will have 3 sections with only objective type questions. This comprises of 100 questions carrying 100 marks and each question carries one mark.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Exam Syllabus is divided into three main sections as described below:

What is Combined Medical services (CMS) examination?



Combined Medical services (CMS) examination is conducted by the UPSC or the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment as Medical Officers in various organizations coming under the Government of India. What is CLAT Exam?




Common Law admission test (CLAT) is an All India entrance test conducted by fourteen national law schools or universities for admission to the five year integrated undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes. CLAT is the gateway to the best law schools and clearing this examination is part of the admission process.


There are two examinations, one for the undergraduate program and other for post graduation in LAW. Students can also opt for a 5 year integrated program which is in high demand. CLAT exam follows a well defined examination pattern.
CLAT undergraduate program:
CLAT exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions carrying one mark each. The total duration of the examination is two hours and following are the subject areas covered in the examination:
1)   English including comprehension – 40 marks: This section mainly checks English proficiency of the candidate. It includes comprehension and questions related to English grammar.
2)   General Knowledge /Current affairs- 50 marks: This section is mainly looking into candidate’s knowledge in current affairs and GK.
3)   Elementary Mathematics- 20 marks: This section has simple problems on mathematics.
4)   Logical Reasoning- 40 marks: This section consists of questions to test student’s ability to identify patterns, logical sequences and analogies.
5)   Legal Aptitude- 50 marks:  Questions will be framed with the help of legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which they said proposition has to be applied. 
CLAT post graduate program
This section comprises of 200 marks and duration of the exam is 2 hours.
Section 1(Objective type questions) – 100 questions carrying one mark each. This covers law of contracts, Criminal law, Legal theory, etc.
Section 2 (Short answer questions) – This section consists of 10 questions of 10 marks each.

What is CET-MHT Exam?




CET-MHT or Common entrance test is an annual entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra for admission to various professional courses offered by institutes in Maharashtra. What is CDS Exam?




CDS or the “Combined Defence Services” is conducted by the Union Defence Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Air force Academy, Officer’s training academy and Naval Academy. Admission to the officer’s training academy includes two subject tests. The UPSC have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the Combined Defence Service examination. 

What is Caiib Exam?



The banking industry is facing an acute shortage of trained employees at all levels. CAIIB can be called one of the tools used by the banking industry to train its employees and provide them the required knowledge necessary for better decision making covering risk, financial and bank management. Only candidates who have cleared JAIIB or the part 1 of Associate examination are eligible to appear for CAIIB examination.
CAIIB Exam has two main stages or blocks.
1)   Compulsory paper: This has two main subjects a) Advanced Bank Management b) Bank Financial Management.
2)   Elective papers: Under this section candidate needs to select one subject out of the choices given: a) Corporate Banking b) Human resource management

There is no negative marking for wrong answers, so candidates can answer all the questions without fear. CAIIB exam is conducted twice a year and the schedule of the examination is published 3 months prior to the examination.

What is AIIMS Exam ?



All India Institute of Medical science (AIIMS) is one of the prestigious institutes dedicated for medical sciences. AIIMS aims at providing the best education and also develop patterns of teaching in undergraduate and post graduate medical education in various branches, to demonstrate high standards of medical education in India. What is Armed forces medical College (AFMC)?




AFMC (Armed forces medical College) is a premier medical institute of India. AFMC has the distinction of being the first medical college set up by the Armed Forces of any country in Asia.  This college provides under graduate and post graduate medical and nursing courses with assured career prospects in defense services.

The time of India recently published an article on AFMC which clearly stated that AFMC exam would be part of history and here’s the statement:

"We are now merging with the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for undergraduate courses (NEET-UG), which has been finalized by the Medical Council of India and will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education from 2013 onward,"  This statement came from Gen H L Kakria, Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services.

AFMC conducts AFMC Exam for admission to various courses offered by the institute. An Indian citizen between the age 18 and 22, who has passed 10+2 or qualifying examination(Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with not less than 60% in aggregate marks is eligible to appear for examination it offers 130 medical seats (105 boys & 25 girls). The Exam is conducted at various examinations centers and candidates can choose their examination center.
