CDS Syllabus

CDS follows a standard syllabus which includes English, GK and elementary mathematics. The standard of papers in elementary mathematics will be matriculation level. The standard of other papers will be approximately be that of any graduation level of an Indian university. Find below the detailed CDS Syllabus followed:

Ø  English: This section will be designed to test candidates understanding of English.

Ø  General Knowledge:  This includes knowledge of current events and general information of the latest technologies and experience in their scientific aspects. This section may also include questions on history of India and geography of a nature.

Ø  Elementary Mathematics: This section covers many important concepts in mathematics.

Ø  Arithmetic: Integers, rational and real numbers, square roots, elementary number theory, etc.

Ø  Algebra: Basic operations, H.C F, L.C.M, Theory of polynomials, simultaneous linear equations, quadratic equations, etc.

Ø  Trigonometry: Sine x, tangent x, Simple trigonometric identities, heights and distances

Ø  Geometry: Lines and angles, plane and plane figures, parallel lines, similar triangles, properties of angles, etc.

Ø  Mensuration: Areas of squares, surface area and volume of cuboids, lateral surface and volume of right circular cones and cylinders, etc.

Ø  Statistics: Collection and tabulation of data, frequency polygons, pie charts, central tendency, etc.

Ø  Intelligence and Personality test: This section is crucial and includes group tests such as group discussions, group planning, and outdoor group tasks. These tests intend to judge the mental caliber of a candidate.
